Overview
Online handmade jewellery store joolzery.co.uk wanted the ability to start adding customer reviews to their website, to help influence the purchasing decisions of current and future customers.
Joolzery required a new administrative section to be built, that would allow review request emails to be sent out to customers, who had recently purchased. Upon receiving the review request email, the customer can click on a link which then takes them back to the site to a page, where they can provide a rating and a review for each item purchased.
Customers that had taken the time to leave a review that was later published on the site, would be rewarded with a discount voucher, to be used within a couple of weeks of leaving the review(s).
Development
To meet the project requirements outlined in the overview, a new page in the Joolzery administration area was created for the management of order reviews. Individual order reviews can be viewed in separate frames. In each frame all items associated with the order are listed, accompanied by the customer's name and email address. Review management tools include a ‘Send Review Request Email’ and ‘Send Thank You Email’ buttons. A review status select dropdown and review item visibility checkboxes were also provided.
After clicking the 'Send Review Request Email' button, the review status is updated to 'Request Sent' and an email is sent to the customer inviting them to leave feedback. The email contains a large green button giving the direction 'Leave Your Feedback' making it easy for the customer to return to the site to review individual items in the order.
If the customer decides that they want to leave a review, they are taken to a customised review page which lists each item that they purchased. In order to complete a review, at least one item must be fully reviewed, by selecting a review star rating (from 1 to 5 stars) and adding a review headline. If the customer wants to provide a more detailed review, they can do so in the text area provided. Finally, customers also have the ability to upload a picture of themselves wearing the item, if they wish to do so. After completing and submitting at least one review, the customer is then presented with a message thanking them for spending the time to leave some feedback.
Back in the Joolzery administration review panel, the review star rating, review headline and detailed description (if provided) are displayed next to each item reviewed. Individual item reviews may then be published by simply ticking their 'visibility' checkbox and are then made live on the site.
On the Joolzery homepage, three randomly selected reviews are displayed down the left hand side underneath the shopping cart. Links are also provided that take site visitors to a customer reviews page.
Provided that the customer has left reviews that are positive and have been published, a 'thank you' voucher offering 15% off their next order is sent to them. The 'thank you' voucher must be used within 14 days before it expires.
